Raghava Lawrence has been revealed as Karna in director Ramesh Varma’s upcoming mythological epic Mahaveer Karna. The makers unveiled his first look on September 22, presenting the actor in the role of the legendary Mahabharata warrior.

The film is being mounted on a reported budget of Rs 150 crore and is planned as a five-language theatrical release in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. The project marks Lawrence’s first reported major role in a mythological story.

The first-look poster features Lawrence as Karna with the tagline, “A Face. A Legend. A Warrior.” The actor said he felt grateful for the opportunity to portray one of the most iconic characters from Indian mythology and thanked director Ramesh Varma for bringing the project to him.

Karna is one of the central figures of the Mahabharata, remembered for his courage, generosity and loyalty, as well as his complicated identity and tragic circumstances. Mahaveer Karna will focus on his story while presenting the character through a large-scale cinematic production.

Presented by Jayantilal Gada and produced by Pen Movies, Sri Neeladri Productions and RV Studios, the film is being developed as a hybrid live-action epic with extensive visual effects. Its technical team includes cinematographer and hybrid creator Ramji Dott, editor Prawin Pudi, dialogue writer Shreemani and composer Gnaani.

Mahaveer Karna is currently scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on December 4, 2026.
