India vs Sri Lanka Asian Games Final: India Close to Gold After 216/3

India put themselves in a commanding position in the women’s cricket final at the Asian Games after posting 216/3 against Sri Lanka. Smriti Mandhana led the charge with a fluent 79, while Shafali Verma contributed 48. Richa Ghosh then provided a late surge, scoring 49 off 22 balls as India added 53 runs in the final three overs.

The 216 total became the highest-ever score in women’s cricket at the Asian Games, surpassing Hong Kong’s previous record of 202 against Mongolia. Sri Lanka began the chase aggressively through Chamari Athapaththu, but India’s bowlers quickly turned the contest around.

Athapaththu was dismissed for 27, while Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma struck repeatedly to dismantle Sri Lanka’s top and middle order. Sri Lanka slipped to 63/8 after 13.6 overs, leaving them needing 154 runs from just 36 balls. Deepti Sharma had three wickets, while Sree Charani claimed two.

With Sri Lanka struggling to build partnerships and the required run rate soaring, India moved within touching distance of the gold medal.
