Chennai to Get Olympic Sports City, International Racing Tracks Planned to Boost Sports Tourism

Tamil Nadu is set to develop a world-class Olympic Sports City in Chennai as part of an ambitious plan to strengthen sporting infrastructure, train elite athletes and boost sports tourism in the state.

The proposed integrated sports complex will feature modern facilities designed to support athletes preparing for the Olympics and other major international competitions. The project is expected to include high-performance training centres, advanced sports science and sports medicine facilities, state-of-the-art equipment and residential accommodation for athletes and coaches.

A major highlight of the proposed development is the plan for international-standard racing tracks capable of hosting multiple levels of motorsport competitions, including Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3 and Formula 4 events.

The Olympic Sports City is expected to play a significant role in promoting Chennai and Tamil Nadu as major destinations for international sporting events. By developing infrastructure capable of hosting global competitions, the initiative aims to attract athletes, teams, sporting organisations and visitors from across India and overseas.
