Mohammad Rizwan Moves Lahore High Court Over NCCIA Summons Linked to England Tour

Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has approached the Lahore High Court against a summons issued by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) in connection with an inquiry linked to Pakistan’s England Test tour.

Rizwan appeared before the NCCIA in Lahore last week alongside Imam-ul-Haq. The players were reportedly given detailed questionnaires seeking information about their travel, finances and personal and professional affairs. Rizwan’s petition reportedly questions the basis and jurisdiction of the investigation and argues that no specific allegation has been made against him. He has also sought a pause in the proceedings until the court decides on his petition.

The NCCIA inquiry has reportedly examined alleged dressing-room information leaks and other material connected to the England tour. Its precise connection with a separate Pakistan Cricket Board disciplinary investigation remains unclear.

Pakistan’s England campaign ended in a 3-0 Test series defeat. Rizwan was among seven players sent home after Pakistan fell 2-0 behind, while Sarfaraz Ahmed was replaced as head coach before the final Test. Pakistan also lost the Edgbaston match by eight wickets.

Rizwan scored 12, 41, 7 and 1 in his four innings during the tour. The PCB also initiated an internal disciplinary inquiry over reported player conduct and selection-related issues.

Pakistan will now turn to the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, where the men’s T20 team has received direct entry into the quarter-finals. Their first match is scheduled for September 28.
