NBCC Cancels E-Auction of 262 Premium Flats in Delhi's Chanakyapuri

The National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) has cancelled the e-auction for premium residential units at Avenue Towers on Africa Avenue near Chanakyapuri in New Delhi.

The state-owned construction company announced that the e-auction, which had been invited under a notice issued on July 17, 2026, was being cancelled with immediate effect for administrative reasons. However, NBCC did not disclose the specific reasons behind the decision or announce whether and when a fresh auction would be conducted.

The e-auction was planned for the sale of 262 freehold residential units at Avenue Towers, located on Africa Avenue in one of New Delhi's prominent diplomatic areas near Chanakyapuri.

NBCC said applicants would receive a full refund of the Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) along with the Auction Processing Fee paid through the RailTel Corporation of India portal. The refunds are expected to be credited to the bank accounts provided by applicants within three working days of the August 19 notification.

The decision to refund the processing fee is notable because the original auction terms had stated that the Auction Processing Fee would be non-refundable. NBCC said it was returning the fee on an ex gratia basis and in good faith, without accepting any liability.

The company also clarified that the refund of the processing fee in this case should not be considered a precedent for future tenders, auctions or other processes conducted by NBCC.

Potential buyers have been advised to monitor NBCC's official website for future updates regarding the Africa Avenue project and any fresh e-auction of the residential units.

NBCC has not announced a new auction date or provided further details about the administrative reasons behind the cancellation. Buyers will now have to wait for further communication on whether the auction will be held again and under what terms.
