Tata Cars, SUVs and EVs to Get Costlier by Up to Rs 25,000 From September 1

Tata Cars, SUVs and EVs to Get Costlier by Up to Rs 25,000 From September 1

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. is set to raise prices across its range of cars and SUVs by up to Rs 25,000 from September 1, 2026. The price revision will apply to both internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and electric vehicles (EVs).

However, the increase will vary depending on the model and variant. This means not every Tata vehicle will become costlier by the full Rs 25,000.

Tata Car Price Hike From September 1

The company has announced a portfolio-wide price revision, but has not yet disclosed which specific models or variants will see the maximum increase.

The actual price hike for customers will depend on the particular Tata car, SUV or EV they choose.

The revised prices will come into effect from September 1, meaning buyers planning to purchase a Tata vehicle may have to pay more from next month.

Why Is Tata Motors Increasing Car Prices?

Tata Motors said the latest price hike is being introduced to partially offset the impact of rising input costs and continued inflationary pressures.

The company said it has been absorbing a significant portion of the increased costs but is now passing on part of the burden to customers through the price revision.

The extent of the increase will differ across models and variants to maintain the overall value proposition of the company's vehicles.

Tata EVs Will Also Become More Expensive

The price increase will not be limited to Tata's petrol and diesel vehicles. Tata Motors has confirmed that its electric vehicle portfolio will also be covered under the latest price revision.

As a result, customers planning to buy a Tata EV may also see higher prices from September 1, depending on the model and variant.

Other Carmakers Are Also Raising Prices

Tata Motors' latest announcement comes as several automobile manufacturers in India increase vehicle prices amid rising commodity costs, inflation and higher operating expenses.

Hyundai Motor India recently announced its third price increase of 2026, while Maruti Suzuki has also implemented multiple portfolio-wide price hikes in recent months.

Global trade disruptions, rising energy costs and geopolitical tensions have added further pressure on automobile manufacturers, leading several companies to revise vehicle prices.

For buyers, the latest Tata Motors announcement means that purchasing a Tata car, SUV or EV before September 1 could help avoid the upcoming price increase, although the final impact will vary by model and variant.
