Pawan Kalyan on Jana Nayagan Censor Row: Makers Shouldn’t Have Gone to Court

Actor and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has shared his views on the ongoing controversy surrounding the censorship of the film Jana Nayagan. The film, starring actor Vijay and directed by H Vinoth, has been facing delays after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) did not issue its certificate ahead of the planned release.

Speaking about the situation during an interaction with a television channel, Pawan Kalyan said that the makers of the film should not have taken the matter directly to court. According to him, disputes related to certification should ideally be handled through discussion and established procedures within the film certification system.

Jana Nayagan was originally scheduled for a theatrical release on January 9. However, the release was postponed indefinitely due to the pending certification process with the CBFC. The delay has sparked discussions among fans and the film industry regarding censorship regulations and the functioning of the certification board.

Pawan Kalyan addressed the criticism that has been directed at the central government over the issue. He said that blaming the government for the certification delay may not be appropriate, explaining that the CBFC operates through its own processes and guidelines.

The Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister also spoke about his own experiences with film certification during his career in cinema. He mentioned that his upcoming film OG has received an “A” certificate from the CBFC, indicating that the movie is approved for adult audiences.

Kalyan explained that filmmakers often face challenges during the certification process, but these matters are usually resolved through dialogue with the board. He suggested that maintaining communication with the certification authorities is generally the more practical approach.
