Scientist’s Microwave Test Revives Havana Syndrome Weapon Debate

A Norwegian government scientist’s self-experiment with a prototype microwave device has intensified debate among security and intelligence officials over whether directed-energy technology could be responsible for symptoms linked to Havana syndrome.

The previously undisclosed experiment has emerged as a significant development in the ongoing investigation into Anomalous Health Incidents (AHIs), the term used by the United States to describe unexplained neurological symptoms reported by diplomats and intelligence personnel worldwide.

Experiment Triggered Havana Syndrome–Like Symptoms

According to reports, the scientist built a device capable of emitting pulsed microwave energy and tested it on himself in 2024 to demonstrate that the technology was harmless. Following exposure, he reportedly experienced neurological symptoms similar to those described in AHI cases, including dizziness and cognitive disruption.

The findings were shared with US intelligence agencies, prompting visits by defense and national security officials to examine the device and evaluate its potential implications.

Experts familiar with the case emphasized that the experiment does not prove the existence of a weapon or confirm foreign involvement. However, it has strengthened arguments that pulsed electromagnetic energy may affect human neurological functions.
