The Seva First Innovation Challenge 2026 has been launched by the Ministry of Education to encourage students and young innovators to develop practical solutions to real-world problems. Registrations and submissions are open from September 25 to October 24, 2026, with a total prize pool of ₹5.4 crore.

What is Seva First Innovation Challenge 2026?

The national initiative aims to connect young innovators with challenges faced by communities and provide support to turn ideas into practical, scalable and implementable solutions. The challenge is being organised under the broader vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, with a focus on innovation and technology for addressing social and community challenges.

Participants are encouraged to identify problems around them and develop solutions that can potentially be tested, adopted and scaled.

Three categories for participants

The challenge has three participation categories: Junior, Technical and Open. The Junior category is for students from Classes 6 to 12, while the Technical category is open to students enrolled in Industrial Training Institutes and polytechnics.

The Open category includes undergraduate and higher-study students, including postgraduate students and research scholars.

The challenge is being conducted across Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana, along with the Union Territories of Lakshadweep, Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Mentorship and incubation support

Participants can work on problems spanning agriculture, healthcare, education, sustainability, waste management, artificial intelligence, robotics, cybersecurity and clean technology.

Selected innovations may receive expert mentorship, technical guidance, laboratory and fabrication access, incubation and pilot support. Evaluation will consider factors including relevance, originality, feasibility, impact and scalability.

The initiative aims to help young innovators move beyond conceptual ideas and develop solutions with potential for real-world use.
