Tokyo Goes Wild as Allu Arjun Says Pushpa 2 Dialogue in Japanese

Telugu superstar Allu Arjun created an electrifying moment at the Tokyo premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule by delivering one of the film’s iconic dialogues in Japanese — live on stage. The unexpected gesture sent fans into a frenzy, drawing loud cheers, whistles and prolonged applause, firmly underlining the growing global appeal of Indian cinema.

A video of the moment, now widely shared on social media, shows the actor confidently reciting the Japanese version of his dialogue as the audience reacts with unrestrained enthusiasm. The crowd’s response set the tone for the film’s Japanese theatrical release scheduled for January 16, where the film will release under the title Pushpa Kunrin.

Allu Arjun is currently in Japan as part of an extensive promotional campaign for the film, accompanied by co-star Rashmika Mandanna. Their arrival in Tokyo earlier this week itself turned into a spectacle, with fans gathering in large numbers at the airport and outside promotional venues. The scenes reflected the expanding overseas fanbase of the Pushpa franchise, particularly in East Asian markets.

Sharing glimpses from the Japan tour, the film’s official handles posted updates highlighting Arjun’s engagement with local media. The team revealed that the actor has been giving back-to-back interviews to Japanese outlets ahead of the release, signalling a well-planned international rollout aimed at deepening the film’s cultural connect with Japanese audiences.

For its Japan release, the makers have partnered with prominent local distributors Geek Pictures and Shochiku, in collaboration with Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings. The film is slated to open across nearly 250 screens in Japan — a significant number for an Indian mass entertainer and a strong indicator of growing confidence in the market.

The Pushpa franchise has already achieved staggering commercial success worldwide. Pushpa 2: The Rule reportedly earned around Rs 800 crore in the Hindi belt alone and close to Rs 1,800 crore globally, making it one of the biggest Indian blockbusters in recent times. The film’s raw aesthetic, chart-topping music and Allu Arjun’s intense portrayal of the rebellious Pushpa Raj have contributed to its cult-like following beyond Indian borders.

Japan, in particular, has historically shown openness to Indian cinema, especially films with strong emotional arcs, stylised storytelling and powerful music. Trade analysts believe that Pushpa 2’s larger-than-life presentation and recognisable lead character could strike a chord with Japanese moviegoers as well.

Meanwhile, Allu Arjun is already gearing up for his next major project — a high-profile collaboration with director Atlee, co-starring Deepika Padukone. Temporarily titled AA22xA6, the film has generated strong anticipation among fans, adding further momentum to Arjun’s expanding global profile.

With his Japanese dialogue moment now going viral, Allu Arjun has once again proven that star power, when combined with cultural respect and effort, can transcend language barriers.
