Varalaxmi Sarathkumar Makes Directorial Debut with ‘Saraswathi’ Starring Priyamani & Prakash Raj

Actor Varalaxmi Sarathkumar is making her directorial debut with the film ‘Saraswathi’, produced under Dosa Diaries, a new banner she co-founded with her sister, Pooja Sarathkumar.

Sharing her excitement on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, Varalaxmi wrote:

"I’m so excited to be starting my journey as a director. To be producing alongside my sister Pooja is a bigger bonus. Thank you to my actors and technicians for having faith in me. I will do my very best not to let you down. Need all your blessings."

Dosa Diaries posted:

"#SARASWATHI. The first page of #DosaDiaries. A heartfelt congratulations to our talented debut director @varusarath5, we can’t wait to see the magic you create unfold on screen. The journey of Dosa Diaries begins today, and the pages ahead are sure to shine brighter than ever."

The film features a strong ensemble cast including Prakash Raj, Priyamani, and Naveen Chandra, with Thaman composing the music. On the technical front, AM Edwin Sakay handles cinematography, Venkat Raajen is on editing, and Sudheer Macharla leads art direction, promising a visually compelling cinematic experience.

Even as she steps behind the camera, Varalaxmi continues her acting journey. She stars in the Hollywood drama ‘Rizana: A Caged Bird’, directed by Chandran Rutnam and shot in Sri Lanka, alongside Academy Award winner Jeremy Irons, based on a real-life story.

With ‘Saraswathi’, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar embarks on a new chapter, balancing her roles as director, producer, and actor, signaling an ambitious expansion of her creative repertoire.
