CBSE Board Exams 2027: Class 10, 12 Private Candidate Forms Open

CBSE has opened applications for private candidates appearing in the 2027 Class 10 and Class 12 board exams, with the regular window closing on October 23.

CBSE has opened the application process for private candidates appearing in the 2027 board examinations.

The CBSE board exams 2027 application process for private candidates has opened for Class 10 and Class 12 students. The Central Board of Secondary Education began accepting applications on October 8, with candidates able to submit forms without a late fee until October 23, 2026.

A late-fee window will remain available from October 24 to October 30, with an additional fee of ₹2,000.

Eligible candidates must submit their applications online through the private candidate section of the CBSE website. Only one application can be submitted, and candidates need a working email ID for OTP verification.

Who Can Apply as a Private Candidate?

Students eligible to apply include those declared Essential Repeat or placed in Compartment in the 2026 board examinations. Students declared Fail or Essential Repeat in examinations held between 2021 and 2026 can also apply.

Candidates who passed the 2026 examination but want to improve their performance in one or more subjects are eligible as well.

Students who received a roll number but could not appear in the 2026 examination for medical reasons may also apply, except in cases involving shortage of attendance.

For Class 10, candidates placed in compartment in two subjects can opt for five, six or seven subjects. Class 12 compartment candidates can opt for all subjects they appeared for in 2026.

Students who appeared in 2026 will have their details auto-generated, while candidates from 2025 or earlier will need to enter their roll number and year of passing.

Candidates should select their examination city carefully, as the allotted centre cannot be changed. A fresh roll number will be issued for the 2027 examination.

CBSE is scheduled to conduct the 2027 board examinations during February, March and April.
