The Election Commission of India has extended the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls schedule in six states: Delhi, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Telangana and Nagaland.
The decision follows requests from the respective Chief Electoral Officers seeking additional time for the ongoing revision process. The revised schedule changes important deadlines for filing claims and objections, their disposal and publication of the final electoral rolls.
The extensions are intended to provide additional time for addressing discrepancies and completing the electoral roll revision process in the states concerned.
Maharashtra SIR Schedule Revised
In Maharashtra, the deadline for filing claims and objections has been extended to November 13.
The final electoral roll is now scheduled to be published on November 30. The revised timeline gives voters and concerned authorities additional time to participate in the claims and objections process before the final list is released.
Delhi Gets Extended Timeline for Electoral Roll Revision
Delhi has also received an extension under the revised SIR schedule.
The deadline for submitting claims and objections has been moved to November 25. The disposal of these claims and objections has been extended to December 15, while publication of the final electoral roll is scheduled for December 22.
The extension is aimed at addressing logical discrepancies identified during the revision process and allowing additional time for their resolution.
Six States Covered Under the Revised SIR Schedule
Apart from Delhi and Maharashtra, the Election Commission has extended the SIR schedule in Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Telangana and Nagaland following requests from their respective Chief Electoral Officers.
The revised timelines are relevant for voters, election officials and other stakeholders involved in the electoral roll revision process.
Voters should keep track of the updated deadlines and check the official electoral roll information to ensure that their details are correctly recorded.
