ICC Rankings update: Deepti Sharma becomes No.1 T20I bowler, Mandhana slips to No.2

India all-rounder Deepti Sharma has reached a major career milestone by climbing to the No.1 position in the ICC Women’s T20I bowling rankings, according to the latest update released on Tuesday.

At the same time, Smriti Mandhana has slipped to second place in the ODI batting rankings, with South Africa skipper Laura Wolvaardt reclaiming the top spot.

Deepti Sharma tops T20I bowling rankings

Deepti’s rise to the summit comes after an impressive and economical spell in the opening T20I against Sri Lanka in Visakhapatnam. The Indian off-spinner returned figures of 1 for 20 in four overs, playing a key role in India’s eight-wicket victory.

The performance earned Deepti five rating points, allowing her to edge past Australia’s Annabel Sutherland, who had held the top position since August. Deepti now leads the T20I bowling rankings by a slender one-point margin, marking the first time in her career that she has reached No.1 in the format.

Another Indian bowler, Arundhati Reddy, also made progress, climbing five places to 36th following her performance in the same match.

Jemimah Rodrigues breaks into T20I top 10

India saw further positives in the T20I batting rankings, with Jemimah Rodrigues emerging as the biggest gainer. Her unbeaten half-century against Sri Lanka, which earned her Player of the Match honours, propelled her up five places to ninth.

India now has three batters inside the T20I top 10 — Jemimah (9th), Smriti Mandhana (3rd), and Shafali Verma (10th).

Mandhana slips as Wolvaardt returns to ODI summit

In the ODI batting rankings, Smriti Mandhana dropped to second place after being overtaken by Laura Wolvaardt. The South African captain reclaimed the No.1 position following a dominant home series against Ireland.

Wolvaardt scored centuries in the final two matches of the series, guiding South Africa to a clean 3–0 sweep. Her consistent run of scores helped her achieve a new career-high rating and move back ahead of Mandhana at the top of the list.

Other notable movements

South Africa’s Sune Luus enjoyed a strong all-round showing, rising seven places to 34th in the ODI batting rankings and jumping 11 spots to 22nd among ODI all-rounders.

Ireland also found positives despite the series defeat. Arlene Kelly climbed five places to 27th in the ODI bowling rankings, while batters Gaby Lewis and Amy Hunter moved up to 18th and 28th respectively.

The latest rankings underline India’s growing influence in women’s T20 cricket, with Deepti Sharma’s rise to No.1 standing out as a landmark achievement.
