Yash’s highly anticipated film Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups has generated fresh buzz after viewers noticed differences between its English and Indian trailer versions.
While the English trailer is 11 seconds shorter, the changes are not limited to runtime. From altered opening warnings and credits to additional moments in Yash’s monologue, the two versions appear to have been edited differently for their respective audiences.
The film, directed by Geetu Mohandas, is being positioned as a major global release and has been shot in both Kannada and English.
What Is Different Between the English and Indian Trailers?
One of the most noticeable differences is the runtime. The English version of the Toxic trailer is 11 seconds shorter than the Indian version.
The Indian cut includes a “use headphones for better experience” message, which does not appear in the English trailer. The credits also run slightly longer in the Indian version.
Another notable difference comes during a sequence featuring Yash’s character at gunpoint. His monologue receives a few additional seconds in the Kannada version, giving that moment slightly more screen time.
Although these changes may appear minor, they have drawn attention because Toxic is being promoted as an international project with separate versions designed for Indian and global audiences.
Toxic Trailer Reveals Father-Son Conflict
Beyond the differences between the two versions, the trailer offers a glimpse into the film’s central conflict.
Yash plays a dual role as Raya and Rumi, also known as Ticket. The story appears to revolve around a fractured father-son relationship, set against a backdrop of violence, power, betrayal and revenge.
The trailer moves between gunfights, explosions and intense confrontations while gradually revealing the growing conflict between the two characters.
The relationship between Raya and Ticket appears to be at the centre of the story, with the trailer eventually building towards a brutal face-off between father and son.
A Dark World of Violence, Power and Betrayal
Toxic is not being presented as a conventional action or gangster film alone.
The trailer also explores themes of rage, heartbreak, greed and fractured relationships. Alongside the violence, viewers get glimpses of the complicated relationships between Raya and the women played by Kiara Advani and Tara Sutaria.
The final moments of the trailer build towards a physical confrontation between the father and son, leaving audiences with a major question: what turned them into enemies?
Yash Takes on a Dual Role in Toxic
Yash leads the film in the dual roles of Raya and Rumi, aka Ticket.
The film features a large ensemble cast, including:
-
Kiara Advani as Nadia
-
Huma Qureshi as Elizabeth
-
Nayanthara as Ganga
-
Tara Sutaria as Rebecca
-
Rukmini Vasanth as Melissa
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups is among the most ambitious upcoming projects featuring Yash following the massive success of KGF.
Why Does Toxic Have Separate English and Indian Versions?
The different trailer cuts reflect the film's larger international strategy.
Toxic has been shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, while dubbed versions are also planned in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and other languages.
Rather than simply releasing a Kannada film internationally, the makers appear to be creating separate versions for different markets. The English trailer, therefore, represents the film’s attempt to reach audiences beyond India.
With different edits and a multilingual release strategy, Toxic is aiming to position itself as both a major Indian film and an international theatrical release.
Toxic Release Date
Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, starring Yash in a dual role, is scheduled to release in theatres on August 26, 2026.
The difference between the English and Indian trailers may only be 11 seconds, but it has added another layer of curiosity around how the film will be presented to audiences across different markets.
