Pakistan Army Signs Drone MoU With US Firm Set to Merge With Trump-Backed Company

US drone company Powerus has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Pakistan Army that includes an initial order related to unmanned aerial systems, according to the company’s co-founder Brett Velicovich. Details of the order, including its value and specific equipment, were not disclosed, citing security and confidentiality concerns.

The agreement comes as Powerus prepares to merge with publicly traded Aureus Greenway Holdings, a company backed by US President Donald Trump’s sons, Donald Trump Jr and Eric Trump. Both firms expect the merger to be completed in early October.

US regulatory filings show Trump Jr and Eric Trump hold an indirect stake in Aureus through the American Ventures investment fund. The fund is expected to have a 9.9% beneficial ownership stake in the combined company following the merger.

Pakistan’s military said a Powerus delegation led by Velicovich met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir to discuss defence procurement, production and long-term capacity building, although its statement did not mention the MoU.

The development comes amid closer US-Pakistan relations, with both countries pursuing expanded economic, financial and defence cooperation. Powerus said it is also exploring opportunities to establish technology production in Pakistan and develop joint technology initiatives with the country’s defence sector.

Powerus executives have rejected suggestions that the Trump family’s investment influenced the company’s contracts. A spokesperson for Donald Trump Jr said he has no role in Powerus’ management, operations or contract procurement and had no prior knowledge of the Pakistan agreement. The White House also said there were no conflicts of interest.
