A 22-year-old Indian student from Karnataka studying at the University of California, Berkeley, has been reported missing, prompting concern among authorities, friends, and the Indian community in the United States. The student, Saketh Sreenivasaiah, was last seen on February 9 near Lake Anza in the Berkeley Hills.

India’s Consulate General in San Francisco has expressed concern over the disappearance and confirmed that it is coordinating closely with Sreenivasaiah’s family and local authorities to support search efforts. Officials are working alongside law enforcement agencies to gather information and ensure all possible steps are being taken to locate the student.

The case gained wider attention after Sreenivasaiah’s roommate, Baneet Singh, shared a public appeal on LinkedIn requesting assistance from the community. In his message, he stated that Saketh was last spotted near Lake Anza and urged anyone with information or contacts in the area to come forward. He added that he is actively working with the police department and emphasized the emotional distress the situation has caused among friends and loved ones.

Saketh Sreenivasaiah hails from Karnataka and is an accomplished academic. He completed his B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras in 2025. Following his undergraduate studies, he moved to the United States to pursue a master’s degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley — one of the world’s leading institutions for scientific research and innovation.

According to available descriptions shared by authorities, Sreenivasaiah is approximately 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs around 160 pounds (about 73 kilograms). Law enforcement agencies have urged anyone with relevant information to report sightings or details that could assist in the investigation.

The disappearance has sparked concern within the Indian diaspora and student communities, highlighting the importance of community awareness and rapid communication during emergencies involving international students.
