Kasganj Violence: 6 Injured in Communal Clash Over Drinking

Kasganj in Uttar Pradesh witnessed a violent communal clash late Monday night, leaving six people injured, including one critically. The confrontation erupted in Soron’s Lahara Road when members of two communities, reportedly drinking together, got into an argument that quickly escalated into gunfire.

Local residents captured the incident on video, showing the verbal dispute turning violent, with both groups exchanging indiscriminate gunfire. The chaos led to widespread panic in the area, and slogans such as “Jai Shree Ram” and “Vande Mataram” were reportedly chanted during the clash.

The injured were immediately taken to the Community Health Center in Soron, with the critically wounded patient referred to Aligarh Medical College for advanced treatment.

Police response was swift. City Circle Officer Anchal Chauhan arrived at the scene with a heavy police presence and managed to bring the situation under control. During the investigation, authorities recovered a licensed 315-bore rifle and a revolver from the site. Individuals from both sides are being questioned as part of a detailed probe into the incident.

Local leaders condemned the violence. Kuldeep Pratihar, district president of the Kasganj Youth Front, stated, “We won’t tolerate anyone from any religion who spreads anarchy. Our Chief Minister has said that strict action must be taken against such people.”

Both community groups have lodged written complaints against each other at the Soron police station, highlighting the seriousness of the situation and the ongoing tensions. Police officials have emphasized that maintaining law and order is a top priority, especially after a video of the clash went viral on social media, attracting widespread attention.

The incident underscores the rising communal tensions in parts of Uttar Pradesh and the role of alcohol-related disputes in triggering violent confrontations. Authorities are urging citizens to maintain peace and cooperate with law enforcement to prevent further escalation.

As the investigation continues, UP police are reviewing footage, questioning witnesses, and coordinating with local leaders to restore calm and ensure justice for the injured. Residents have been advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
