Diljit Dosanjh’s Aura Concert transformed New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium into a massive celebration of Punjabi music on October 30. Despite persistent rainfall, thousands of fans gathered to watch the singer perform as elaborate stage production, pyrotechnics, lasers and drone formations illuminated the venue.
The concert reportedly attracted more than 70,000 attendees, with fans travelling from different parts of the country to witness the performance. Some even braved heavy rain to attend the show, including visitors who had travelled from Ludhiana, the singer’s hometown.
One of the evening’s biggest highlights was a coordinated drone display that spelled out Diljit’s iconic catchphrase, “PANJABI AA GAYE OYE!” The stadium also featured illuminated wristbands, massive LED backdrops, golden-orange stage effects and green and blue laser beams.
The concert was part of Diljit’s Aura India Tour.
Around 2,000 Security Personnel Deployed
The event took place under extensive security arrangements, with nearly 2,000 private security personnel deployed around the stadium to manage crowds and maintain order.
The concert had faced uncertainty after South District Police initially informed ticketing partner BookMyShow that clearance could not be granted due to specific threat inputs and festive policing commitments.
However, organisers clarified that the show had not been cancelled and subsequently submitted a revised security dossier addressing operational concerns. The arrangements were approved, allowing the performance to proceed.
Delhi Police also issued traffic advisories, announcing restrictions and diversions around the stadium until midnight. Fans were encouraged to plan their journeys, while Diljit had earlier suggested using the metro to avoid road congestion. However, the Jawaharlal Nehru Metro station reportedly witnessed crowded exits as concertgoers arrived.
'I'm an Artist' Remark Gets a Dramatic Concert Ending
Another talking point was the concert's closing display. Diljit ended the show with laser projections featuring the words “Main Hoon Punjab” and a reference to his viral “I'm an artist” remark.
The visual messaging followed criticism surrounding his earlier comments on a politically sensitive student protest. His response during the concert became another widely discussed moment of the evening.
Daddy Yankee Collaboration Adds to the Excitement
The concert day also coincided with the release of Pokito, Diljit’s collaboration with Puerto Rican rapper Daddy Yankee. The track appeared on Daddy Yankee’s album La Postal, released on October 30.
After the performance, Diljit expressed gratitude to fans during an Instagram Live session and celebrated the successful completion of the Delhi show. He also mentioned his upcoming concert in Abu Dhabi.
With its large-scale production, enthusiastic audience and memorable drone display, the Delhi concert marked a high-energy opening for Diljit’s Aura India Tour.
