Missile Showcased During Operation Sindoor Now Manufactured in Lucknow: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that the missile whose power was witnessed by the world during Operation Sindoor is now being manufactured in Lucknow, highlighting the growing role of Uttar Pradesh in India’s defence production ecosystem.

The Prime Minister made the remarks while inaugurating the Rashtriya Prerna Sthal in Lucknow on December 25. Addressing the gathering, Modi said the 30-acre site, which now houses the memorial complex, had remained a garbage dump for decades before being transformed over the past three years.

Referring to India’s defence capabilities, Modi said, “The world saw the strength of a key missile during Operation Sindoor, and today that same missile is being produced in Lucknow.” He linked this development to the establishment of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor, which aims to boost indigenous manufacturing under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

During his speech, Modi paid tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, educationist Madan Mohan Malaviya, and freedom fighter Maharaja Bijli Pasi, saying their contributions continue to inspire the nation.

The Prime Minister also reiterated the Bharatiya Janata Party government’s stance on Jammu and Kashmir, stating that the abrogation of Article 370 was a moment of national pride and a step towards full integration and development of the region.

Highlighting Uttar Pradesh’s transformation, Modi said the state is emerging as a centre for development, heritage preservation, and strategic industries, shedding its earlier image of neglect and underdevelopment.

The Rashtriya Prerna Sthal includes statues and memorials dedicated to prominent national leaders and is envisioned as a space to educate future generations about India’s political, social, and cultural journey.
