The Umesh U. Guinness World Record achievement has added another milestone to the literary initiatives associated with the Amal College of Advanced Studies teacher. A total of 1,572 authors simultaneously signed their own books in Chennai on July 26, 2026, surpassing the previous record of 1,502 participants set at the Sharjah International Book Fair in 2019.
Umesh U., Head of the Department of Commerce at Amal College in Nilambur, received the official Guinness World Records certificate last week at the IIT Madras Alumni Industry Interaction Centre in Chennai.
1,572 Authors Create New Record
The record-setting event was conducted in collaboration with ESN Publications and the London Organisation of Skills Development (LOSD). Eighteen fifth-semester B.Com students from Amal College also volunteered during the event.
According to the Guinness World Records listing, 1,572 people took part in the simultaneous book-signing activity, establishing a new record above the previous benchmark of 1,502 authors.
The recognition has brought attention to Umesh’s involvement in large-scale literary and book-related initiatives.
Another Guinness Recognition for Umesh
The latest achievement is not Umesh’s first association with a Guinness World Records milestone.
In 2023, he was involved in the creation of what was recorded as the world’s thickest unpublished book. The book measured 5.80 metres and contained 100,100 pages.
Following the latest achievement, P.V. Abdul Wahab, MP, felicitated Umesh. The management, principal, teachers, students and alumni of Amal College also honoured him for the recognition.
Amal College Teacher’s Literary Initiatives
Umesh is identified by Amal College as an Associate Professor and Head of its Department of Commerce. His latest recognition connects the Nilambur institution with an international record involving authors from the large-scale literary event.
The Guinness listing identifies ESN Publications (India) and the London Organisation of Skills Development (UK) as the organisations behind the record.
With 1,572 authors participating simultaneously, the achievement marks a significant addition to the growing list of large-scale book and literary records associated with Umesh U.
