UPSC CSE 2024 Cadre List: AIR 1 Shakti Dubey Gets UP Cadre; Ministry Releases IAS Allocations
The Ministry of Personnel has released the cadre allocation list for IAS officers selected through UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2024. All India Rank 1, Shakti Dubey, has secured the Uttar Pradesh cadre, receiving an insider posting in her home state. Rank 2 topper Harshita Goyal from Haryana has been allotted the Gujarat cadre as an outsider.
The allocations follow the UPSC’s structured policy based on rank, preference, category, insider–outsider ratio and vacancy positions. Among the top five rankers, three are women, highlighting strong female representation: Dubey (Rank 1), Harshita (Rank 2), and Shah Margi Chirag (Rank 4). Archit Parag Dongre (Rank 3) and Akash Garg (Rank 5) complete the top bracket with diverse state placements.
Overall, 1,009 candidates have been recommended for various central services—725 men and 284 women—reflecting broad national participation. The Ministry noted that several top performers, including Shakti Dubey and Shah Margi Chirag, received home-cadre postings, while others were allocated outside their states to maintain balanced officer distribution.
