The massive box office momentum of Border 2 spilled beyond cinema screens and into theatres as lead actors Sunny Deol and Ahan Shetty made a surprise appearance at Mumbai’s iconic Gaiety Galaxy cinema. The unexpected visit came just three days after the film’s release, as Border 2 stormed past the Rs 100 crore mark at the domestic box office.
Released in theatres on January 23, Border 2 has witnessed an extraordinary response from audiences across the country, with multiple shows running houseful. The war drama’s strong opening and sustained footfall have reaffirmed the audience’s appetite for large-scale patriotic storytelling, particularly when driven by emotional depth and high production value.
The atmosphere at Gaiety Galaxy turned electric the moment Sunny Deol and Ahan Shetty arrived. Fans erupted into loud cheers, chanting Deol’s name as crowds surged forward to catch a glimpse of the veteran actor. Videos circulating on social media captured Sunny greeting fans from his car before stepping inside the theatre, where applause and whistles echoed through the hall.
Inside the auditorium, both actors waved to the audience and thanked them for their overwhelming support. Their interaction with moviegoers added to the celebratory mood, turning an ordinary screening into a memorable cinematic event. Fans responded with thunderous applause, expressing admiration for the film and its performances.
During the visit, Sunny Deol also met the family of Param Vir Chakra awardee Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, whose bravery forms an important emotional thread in the film. In Border 2, the role of the decorated officer is portrayed by Diljit Dosanjh, adding further emotional weight to the narrative rooted in sacrifice and heroism.
Directed and co-written by Anurag Singh, Border 2 expands the legacy of the 1997 classic Border. The sequel presents a broader, multi-front war narrative involving the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy, offering a panoramic view of military coordination and the human cost of conflict.
Sunny Deol essays the role of Lt Col Fateh Singh Kaler, a seasoned commanding officer who mentors younger soldiers played by Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. The ensemble cast also includes Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, and Medha Rana, all contributing to the film’s emotional and narrative depth.
Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta under the banners of T-Series Films and JP Films, Border 2 continues to dominate theatres nationwide.
With roaring crowds, emotional storytelling, and strong word-of-mouth, Border 2’s box office run shows no signs of slowing, firmly establishing itself as one of the biggest Hindi film successes of the year.
