Conan O’Brien Stopped 911 Call During Nick–Rob Reiner Party Fight: Report

US television host Conan O'Brien reportedly intervened to calm a heated altercation between filmmaker Rob Reiner and his son Nick Reiner during a private holiday party in Los Angeles, according to multiple media reports.

The incident took place just hours before Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead at their Brentwood residence. The couple had attended the gathering hosted by O’Brien earlier the same evening.

Sources quoted by international media outlets said a loud and intense argument broke out between Rob Reiner and Nick Reiner during the party, prompting concern among guests. One attendee reportedly suggested calling emergency services due to the escalating nature of the dispute.

However, O’Brien, who was hosting the event, allegedly stepped in to defuse the situation. According to an insider account, the host discouraged guests from contacting authorities, asserting control over the situation and attempting to calm those involved.

Other attendees reportedly expressed concern over Nick Reiner’s behaviour, with some suggesting that his conduct raised mental health red flags. One source claimed the discussion briefly turned toward whether psychiatric intervention was necessary, though no official action was taken at the party.

Reports also suggest that Rob Reiner confided in friends during the gathering, expressing fear and distress over his relationship with his son. Several guests later recalled the filmmaker appearing deeply shaken during the evening.

Hours after leaving the event, Rob and Michele Reiner were discovered dead at their Los Angeles home. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that both victims died from multiple sharp-force injuries.

Following the deaths, the couple’s children, Jake and Romy Reiner, issued a statement describing the loss as “horrific and devastating,” saying their parents were not only their family but also their closest companions. They requested privacy and asked the public to remember their parents for the lives they lived and the love they shared.

Nick Reiner, 32, appeared in court on December 17 wearing a suicide-prevention smock. His arraignment has been postponed until January 7, when he is expected to enter a plea.
