India Issues Travel Advisory as Thailand–Cambodia Border Tensions Rise

India has issued a travel advisory for citizens planning to visit regions near the Thailand–Cambodia border, where fresh clashes have prompted heightened security. The Indian Embassy in Thailand urged travellers to monitor updates from Thai authorities before entering any border districts where movement has been restricted.

Thailand has tightened security in seven eastern and northeastern provinces bordering Cambodia, including Ubon Ratchathani, Si Sa Ket, Surin, Buri Ram, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi and Trat. Curfews have been imposed in some districts, checkpoints remain closed, and certain rail and bus routes near the frontier have been suspended or diverted.

Despite the tensions, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) stated that travel across the country remains normal and major tourist destinations—including Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Samui, Krabi, Pattaya and Ayutthaya—are operating without disruption. Domestic and international transport networks also continue to function across unaffected regions.

The advisory comes as Thailand strengthens border control amid renewed tensions with Cambodia, urging visitors to avoid restricted zones and stay updated on safety protocols.
