The Avengers: Doomsday India release has brought an early festive surprise for Marvel fans, with the upcoming superhero film scheduled to reach Indian theatres on December 17, 2026, a day before its planned US release.
Hollywood actors Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans marked Diwali by sharing a special video message for Indian audiences. Downey Jr plays Doctor Doom in the upcoming film, while Evans returns as Steve Rogers, the former Captain America.
In the video, the actors greeted viewers with “Namaste India” and reflected on how Diwali represents the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. They connected the festival’s symbolism of moving from darkness towards light with the darker direction suggested by the film’s storyline before wishing everyone a happy Diwali.
The movie is scheduled to release in India in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. It will also be available in premium formats, including Marvel Studios’ Infinity Vision.
Robert Downey Jr Returns as Doctor Doom
The film marks Downey Jr’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after his celebrated run as Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man. This time, he takes on the role of the formidable Doctor Doom.
Chris Evans is also returning to the franchise as Steve Rogers, reuniting audiences with one of its most recognisable characters.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the filmmakers behind Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, the movie is produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito and Jonathan Schwartz.
A Star-Studded Marvel Ensemble
Avengers: Doomsday features a large ensemble cast, including Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Simu Liu, Ian McKellen, Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan, Patrick Stewart and Hayley Atwell, among others.
The story is expected to bring together heroes from three distinct universes to confront an existential threat. The early India release and Diwali greeting add to the anticipation surrounding one of Marvel’s most awaited upcoming films.
