Nazma Khan’s year-old message to Jemimah Rodrigues resurfaced after Delhi Capitals signed the all-rounder for WPL 2027.

An Instagram message sent a year ago has turned into a memorable cricketing moment for Nazma Khan. The all-rounder’s dream of playing alongside Indian batter Jemimah Rodrigues moved closer to reality on Wednesday after Delhi Capitals signed her for ₹10 lakh at the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2027 mini-auction.

The moment became even more special when Rodrigues discovered Nazma’s old message while opening Instagram to contact her new teammate.

Sharing a screenshot on her Instagram story, Rodrigues wrote that she had stumbled upon the message from a year earlier just as she was about to text Nazma. She welcomed the all-rounder to the Delhi Capitals family and described the moment as a dream becoming reality.

From an Instagram Message to a WPL Opportunity

In her earlier message, Nazma had expressed her wish to share the field with Rodrigues and play in a team capable of winning together. She had also hoped that the Indian batter would eventually see her message.

A year later, the two cricketers are set to be part of the same WPL franchise.

Delhi Capitals also celebrated the exchange on social media, encouraging fans to keep believing in their aspirations and continue working towards their goals.

The episode offered a personal highlight amid the auction activity, showing how a message sent to an admired player eventually became part of a professional cricketing journey.

Delhi Capitals Sign Four Players at the Mini-Auction

Delhi Capitals added four players to their squad at the WPL 2027 mini-auction. The franchise signed Kiran Navgire for ₹75 lakh, while Nazma Khan, Kashvi Kandikuppa and Scotland’s Kirstie Gordon joined for ₹10 lakh each.

The team will enter the upcoming season seeking its first WPL title after finishing as runner-up in each of the tournament’s first four editions.

The squad features established players, including Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Marizanne Kapp, Annabel Sutherland and Laura Wolvaardt. Gordon adds another overseas spin option, while the new Indian signings provide additional depth.

Delhi’s squad also includes wicketkeeper Madiwala Mamatha, with Deeya Yadav among the other players listed.
