Ramayana Jai Jai Ram Song: AR Rahman, Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal Create Devotional Magic

The musical journey of Ramayana has officially begun with the release of its first song, Jai Jai Ram. Composed by AR Rahman, written by Kumar Vishwas and performed by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal, the devotional track was released on September 14 on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.

Jai Jai Ram offers an emotional glimpse into the world of the upcoming epic, combining devotional themes with visuals depicting important moments from Lord Ram’s life. The song includes sequences from Ram and Sita’s wedding, their arrival in Ayodhya and Ram’s reunion with his younger brother Bharat.

The visuals begin with the wedding of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita, presenting their union through grand and devotional imagery. Their return to Ayodhya follows, with the newlyweds being welcomed as flowers are showered upon them.

The song also explores more emotional chapters from Ram’s life. One sequence shows him caring for his father, King Dashrath, while another depicts Ram immersing his father’s ashes in a river. The emotional Bharat Milaap, showing the reunion between Ram and Bharat, also features prominently in the song.

Rahman’s composition combines the atmosphere of a prayer with the scale of a cinematic song. The repeated invocation of Lord Ram’s name forms the foundation of the track, while Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal add emotional depth to the vocals.

Producer Namit Malhotra said the song was created to reflect the devotional and emotional essence at the heart of Ramayana. He also said that although the film has been mounted on a large scale, its foundation remains centred on emotion, values and devotion.

The decision to launch the film’s musical journey on Ganesh Chaturthi was also described as significant. The makers said the occasion was chosen because auspicious beginnings traditionally start with seeking the blessings of Lord Ganesha.

AR Rahman explained that the composition was built around the simplicity of chanting Shri Ram’s name while maintaining the intimate quality of a prayer. He also praised Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal for bringing their individual emotional expressions to Kumar Vishwas’s lyrics while preserving the devotional character of the song.

Kumar Vishwas said the lyrics were deliberately kept simple and direct. Instead of attempting to define Lord Ram through words, the song focuses on the relationship devotees share with him as a guide, source of strength and refuge.

The release of Jai Jai Ram follows the global launch of the Ramayana trailer, which received a strong response from audiences.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Yash as Ravan, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.

The film is produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. Sony Pictures is handling global distribution outside India.

Ramayana Part One is scheduled to release in cinemas during Diwali 2026.
