The Pentagon has confirmed that around 140 United States military service members have been wounded during the ongoing conflict with Iran. The figures provide the first detailed overview of the impact of the war on American troops deployed across the Middle East.
The announcement comes amid escalating tensions in the region following retaliatory missile and drone strikes launched by Iran.
Pentagon officials said the injury figures represent the most comprehensive update so far regarding the toll of the conflict on American forces.
According to the statement, most of the injuries sustained by US troops are considered minor, and a large number of soldiers have already resumed their duties.
Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell confirmed that 108 service members have returned to duty after receiving medical treatment.
The injuries occurred after Iran launched missile and drone attacks across several locations in the Middle East.
These attacks were carried out in response to a joint US–Israel military operation that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, an event that significantly escalated the regional conflict.
Since then, military bases and strategic installations connected to US forces have faced repeated attacks in different parts of the region.
Alongside the wounded personnel, officials have confirmed that at least seven US military service members have died since the conflict began.
The casualties highlight the growing intensity of the confrontation, which has expanded beyond isolated strikes into a broader regional crisis.
Military analysts say the conflict has entered a critical phase with both sides continuing operations across the region.
The ongoing war has raised serious concerns about security and stability in the Middle East.
Several countries in the region have strengthened defence systems and increased military readiness amid fears of further escalation.
Global leaders and international organisations have repeatedly called for restraint to prevent the situation from spiralling into a wider regional war.
The Pentagon continues to monitor the health and safety of deployed personnel while maintaining operational readiness.
Military officials have emphasised that medical teams remain prepared to treat injured troops and ensure they receive necessary care.
As the conflict continues, governments and international observers are closely watching developments to assess how the situation may evolve in the coming weeks.
The rising number of injuries among US forces reflects the intensity and complexity of the ongoing confrontation between Iran and the US-led coalition in the region.
