JEE Advanced 2026 Date Announced: IIT Roorkee Confirms Exam on May 17

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has officially announced that JEE Advanced 2026 will be held on May 17, 2026, setting the stage for one of India’s most competitive engineering entrance examinations.

JEE Advanced is the exclusive gateway to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and attracts top-performing engineering aspirants from across the country. As per the announcement, only the top 2.5 lakh qualifiers from JEE Main 2026 will be eligible to appear for the exam.

Exam Pattern & Schedule

JEE Advanced 2026 will comprise two mandatory papers:

  • Paper 1: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

  • Paper 2: 2:30 pm – 5:30 pm

Candidates must appear for both papers for their performance to be considered in the final merit list. The exam will be conducted in English and Hindi, with the complete list of exam centres and detailed instructions to be released soon on jeeadv.ac.in.

JEE Main 2026 Dates & Eligibility

Eligibility is restricted to the top 2.5 lakh candidates from JEE Main 2026, which will be held in two sessions:

  • Session 1: January 21–30, 2026

  • Session 2: April 2–9, 2026

Only those who meet the cut-off criteria in JEE Main can register for JEE Advanced.
