UPSC Chairman to Host First-Ever Live Town Hall with Aspirants on October 1

New Delhi, September 27, 2025 – In a landmark move, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will organize its first-ever live virtual town hall on October 1, where Chairman Dr. Ajay Kumar will directly interact with civil services aspirants across India.

The initiative, announced through UPSC’s official LinkedIn page, is a part of the Commission’s centenary year celebrations (2025–26). The session will allow aspirants and citizens to ask questions and gain insights into the examination system, upcoming reforms, and innovations at UPSC.

How to Participate

Participants can send in their questions in advance via email to interactwithupsc@gmail.com between September 28 and 10 am on September 30, 2025. Queries can be submitted in both text and video format. Additionally, during the live town hall, participants may post questions on social media platforms such as X (Twitter), Facebook, and LinkedIn using the hashtag #AskChairmanUPSC.

Why This Town Hall Matters

This marks the first time in UPSC’s nearly 100-year history that candidates will hear directly from the Chairperson of the Commission, which is responsible for recruiting officers for India’s most prestigious services, including the IAS, IFS, and IPS. The interaction is expected to provide clarity on examination reforms, evaluation processes, and the future direction of UPSC.

UPSC at 100: A Historic Milestone

The event also officially launches UPSC’s centenary year, celebrating the Commission’s establishment on October 1, 1926, following the Government of India Act, 1919. Initially created as the Public Service Commission, it became the Federal Public Service Commission in 1937, and was later renamed the Union Public Service Commission on January 26, 1950, with the adoption of the Constitution.

The centenary celebrations will include several initiatives, such as the establishment of a Centre of Excellence, envisioned as a knowledge hub for best practices to benefit both UPSC and State Public Service Commissions.

This first-of-its-kind interaction highlights UPSC’s effort to enhance transparency, foster engagement, and encourage dialogue with future civil servants.
