Hyundai to Unveil Largest Electric Vehicle at Brussels Motor Show 2026

Hyundai Motor Company has confirmed that it will begin 2026 with the global unveiling of its largest electric vehicle to date at the Brussels Motor Show, scheduled to take place from January 9 to January 18.

The upcoming model will serve as the centrepiece of Hyundai’s showcase and represents a major step forward in the company’s expanding electric vehicle strategy for the European market. Positioned above the Hyundai Ioniq 9, the new EV will become the flagship of Hyundai’s electric portfolio.

Hyundai has confirmed that the vehicle will feature an advanced 800-volt electrical architecture, enabling significantly faster charging speeds and improved overall efficiency. This high-voltage system is already used in some of Hyundai’s commercial electric platforms and is known for supporting rapid DC fast charging.

Although the company has not officially revealed the model name or detailed specifications, teaser images released ahead of the event offer key design clues. The visuals indicate a full-width LED light bar with a centrally positioned Hyundai logo, a styling cue that closely resembles the Staria MPV. This has fuelled speculation that the new EV could be a fully electric version of the Staria, which is currently sold in international markets with petrol, diesel, and hybrid powertrains.

If the model is indeed based on the Staria platform, it is expected to exceed 5.2 metres in length, making it larger than the Ioniq 9. Test vehicles of an electric Staria have already been spotted overseas, strengthening this possibility. Design updates are likely to be subtle, including EV-specific elements such as a closed grille, revised air intakes, a charging port, and new alloy wheel designs.

In addition to the world premiere, Hyundai will also showcase the refreshed Hyundai Ioniq 6 at the show, marking its first appearance at a European motor exhibition. The updated model features aerodynamic enhancements along with upgrades to interior technology and digital systems.

Hyundai’s exhibition will also include a dedicated N performance zone, highlighting the Ioniq 5 N and Ioniq 6 N, as well as the Insteroid concept — a bold design study based on the Inster EV that reflects the brand’s experimental approach to future mobility.
