Apple has introduced the Apple iOS 27.2 update, bringing major changes to Siri, privacy settings and several built-in iPhone applications. The release reportedly includes more than 160 security vulnerability fixes alongside new capabilities designed to make everyday interactions with Apple devices more convenient.
The update also extends across Apple’s ecosystem, with new software versions for Mac, Apple Watch, iPad, Apple TV, HomePod and Vision Pro devices.
Siri Gets Smarter With Conversation Memory
The biggest reported addition in iOS 27.2 is an upgraded Siri experience. The assistant can retain conversational context, allowing users to ask follow-up questions without restarting discussions. For example, users may revisit a restaurant recommendation shared during an earlier conversation.
Siri can also retrieve relevant information from personal sources, including Messages, Calendar events, voicemails, Safari browsing history and Reading List items.
Apple has introduced an Excluded Apps privacy setting, enabling users to prevent Siri and Search from accessing information in selected applications. Another improvement allows users to select and copy specific portions of Siri’s responses.
The expanded language support reportedly includes French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. Hindi is not included, according to the supplied report. Availability is also restricted in mainland China and the European Union.
The advanced Siri features are described as available on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, the iPhone 16 lineup and newer eligible models.
Messages, Photos and FaceTime Receive Upgrades
Messages can offer contextual suggestions based on conversations, such as tracking a package or creating a Calendar event from an invitation.
Photos gains Shared Album editing options, duplicate-picture prevention and reminders before albums expire. Photos and Image Playground also reportedly support Google’s SynthID watermarking technology to help identify AI-generated or altered images.
FaceTime receives expanded accessibility options, including support for live captioners and third-party sign-language interpreters. Dual Capture functionality is also extended to group video calls.
New Features for iPhone Duo and Other Devices
The report highlights dedicated Apple Pencil USB-C support and an Edge Light video-call feature for the foldable iPhone Duo. The Home app gains automatic door-lock timers and alerts when doors are left open.
Other reported changes include a redesigned Apple Music icon, improved Podcasts navigation, enhanced gaming recommendations and individual profiles in the Apple TV app.
Apple’s wider software rollout reportedly includes Siri-related improvements in macOS 27.2 and watchOS 27.2, alongside updates for other devices.
