Actor Kartik Aaryan is set to play the lead role in filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri’s upcoming film Operation Sindoor, according to a report by Variety India. Inspired by real events, the film marks the first collaboration between the actor and the director and draws on Lieutenant General K J S ‘Tiny’ Dhillon’s book, Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan.
Kartik is expected to begin work on the project after completing Captain India, directed by Shimit Amin. The film, set against the backdrop of the Houthi conflict in Yemen, is currently in production.
Operation Sindoor will be backed by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Agnihotri’s production banner, I Am Buddha Productions. Details about its release date and the remaining cast have not yet been announced.
What Is Operation Sindoor About?
Agnihotri announced the project in March 2026, describing it as a story rooted in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack in April 2025.
The filmmaker said the project was being developed through extensive ground-level research in collaboration with multiple wings of the Indian Armed Forces. He emphasised that the film would draw on real events and seek to present the story through research and cinematic storytelling.
The film takes its name from India’s military operation launched following the Pahalgam attack. The choice of subject places the project among Hindi cinema’s upcoming productions exploring contemporary national security and military events.
