Rohit sheds 10 kg under Abhishek Nayar’s guidance

Ahead of his ODI comeback, Rohit has reportedly shed 10 kg through rigorous training sessions with former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar. The former captain has been focusing on fitness to regain his peak form. While Shubman Gill now leads India’s ODI side, all eyes will be on Rohit and Virat Kohli as the duo return to international cricket for the first time since IPL 2025.

Fans and media noticed Rohit’s leaner frame at the awards, praising his dedication and commitment. In a video from the ceremony, he was seen laughing and enjoying the evening alongside his wife, Ritika Sajdeh.

Veteran players must maintain performance

India’s chairman of selectors, Ajit Agarkar, acknowledged that replacing Rohit as ODI captain was a tough decision, emphasizing that senior players must continue performing to retain their spots. Rohit credits Rahul Dravid for winning mindset

At the event, Rohit credited former head coach Rahul Dravid for instilling a winning mindset that helped India secure victories in last year’s T20 World Cup and this year’s Champions Trophy. “Consistency in thought and execution helped both me and Rahul bhai during the 2024 T20 World Cup and again during the Champions Trophy,” he said.

Rohit added, “Although we didn’t cross the line in the 2023 ODI World Cup final against Australia, the team adopted a new approach. Every player committed to challenging ourselves, focusing on winning games, and bringing those qualities into every match.”
