Kia India Starts 2026 Strong with 10.3% Sales Growth in January

Kia India has started calendar year 2026 on a positive footing, reporting strong double-digit growth in January as demand for its SUV and MPV portfolio continued to remain resilient. The company recorded total sales of 27,603 units during the month, marking a 10.3 per cent year-on-year increase compared to 25,025 units sold in January 2025. The performance highlights Kia’s steady momentum in India’s highly competitive passenger vehicle market.

January’s growth was driven by consistent demand across Kia’s core product range, with SUVs and MPVs continuing to play a central role in the brand’s volume expansion. The new-generation Kia Seltos emerged as a major contributor, benefiting from strong customer response in the mid-size SUV segment. Since its launch, the updated Seltos has reinforced its position as one of the brand’s most influential models in India, offering a combination of refreshed design, advanced technology, and a broad powertrain lineup that appeals to a wide buyer base.

The Kia Sonet also maintained its strong run during the month, helping the company consolidate its presence in the compact SUV segment. Known for its feature-rich offering and competitive positioning, the Sonet continues to attract buyers in one of the country’s largest and fastest-growing vehicle categories, contributing steadily to Kia India’s overall sales volumes.

Alongside SUVs, Kia’s MPV portfolio added further strength to its January performance. The Carens Clavis has been gaining traction among family-oriented buyers, supported by its flexible seating options, spacious three-row layout, and emphasis on comfort and practicality. The model is available in both six- and seven-seat configurations, making it a popular choice for customers looking for versatility without compromising on features.

The company’s electric offering, the Clavis EV, also witnessed growing interest. As Kia’s first Made-in-India electric vehicle, the Clavis EV has positioned itself as a practical seven-seat electric MPV, focusing on everyday usability, safety, and comfort. Its increasing acceptance reflects the gradual rise in demand for electric vehicles beyond urban commuter segments and into family-focused use cases.

Kia’s product strategy continues to revolve around design-led offerings combined with modern technology and safety features. Models such as the Seltos and Sonet offer competitive connectivity and driver-assistance technologies within their respective segments, while the Carens Clavis differentiates itself through space and versatility. The Clavis EV, meanwhile, brings electric mobility into a segment that has traditionally had limited EV options.

Looking ahead, Kia India remains confident about sustaining its growth trajectory through 2026. The company is supported by a balanced product mix across multiple segments and a customer-centric approach aimed at improving the overall ownership experience. This is further reinforced by its expanding retail and service network. Currently, Kia operates 841 customer touchpoints across 376 cities in India, along with 122 Certified Pre-Owned outlets, ensuring broader reach and improved accessibility across both metropolitan and emerging markets.
